It's such a shame SubStack doesn't have an API. Neat setup with the light though.

Cheers John - and agreed about the API! Can't help but feel they're missing out on a lot of community good-will to expand the Substack ecosystem though I accept that getting it right is hard work!

Wow Tom! Excellent informative piece. Serious stuff.

I don't think I'll ever reach that level. Although I will admit to installing a Cat6 hardwire network and gigabit switches right through the house last time I decorated.

Light dependent motor driven curtains are a great idea, only snag may be need to replace the tracks for ones with less friction.

Ignore everything else but the Pi?😲

As you know I'm an Arduino kinda guy!😁

Cheers Paul! Glad you enjoyed it :)

We all start somewhere with these things! Given your Arduino skills I'm sure you could manage - I wouldn't know where to begin building robots! And nice work on the networking - one of the most frustrating things about my current setup is my dependence on a WiFi connection to the Pi; it's not terrible but I would much rather a hard-wired connection. I just can't be doing with cables running through the flat!

The motor driven curtains are something I'll definitely be installing in the future; I have an unnerving ability to yank curtain rails straight off the wall!

I'll admit to being something of a Pi evangelist, but I'm sure you could make the Arduino work for you :P https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/projects/using-an-arduino-as-a-web-server/
